Sammy is bright, attentive and eager to engage, with that wonderful combination of intelligence, loyalty and people-focused energy that makes him such a fun companion. He loves kids of all ages and does great with other dogs and cats, making him an amazing fit for so many different families. 🐾 Meet Bones 🐾 Fun-loving, affectionate and happiest when he’s right by your side. Bones is one of those dogs who just loves being part of the family. He wants to be near his people, whether that means hanging out around the house, joining in on an adventure or curling up close at the end of the day. He is wonderful with kids, other dogs and cats and he even loves to swim! Bones is kennel trained, uses the dog door in his foster home and is so well behaved that his foster family lets him free roam when they aren’t home with no issues. He has a playful, happy personality but also settles in beautifully and just enjoys being included. Bones would be an amazing fit for a family looking for a loving, social companion who can keep up with the fun but also be perfectly content just being wherever his people are.

🐾 Meet Cheese 🐾 A gentle soul who is finally learning what it feels like to be safe, loved and cared for. Cheese is a gorgeous boy whose life before West Valley Animal Rescue was not an easy one. He came to us severely matted and neglected, so his coat had to be shaved very short to safely remove everything he had been carrying around. His beautiful doodle coat will grow back, and we hope no one overlooks this incredible boy simply because his haircut is still catching up to the dog underneath. Cheese is crate trained, uses the dog door in his foster home, loves playing in the water and is absolutely excellent with other dogs. He is wonderful with children, does not chase cats and has shown no aggression. Cheese is naturally shy when meeting brand new people, so his entire family will need to give him a little patience at first while he learns that he is safe. He came to us with a history of abuse by a man, and because of that he is especially fearful around adult males. His fear presents as cowering and avoidance, not aggression. He is currently living in a foster home with both a mom and dad and does just fine, but he tends to stick to mom like glue while keeping more distance from dad. Cheese does not need a home without men, but he does need any man in his life to be patient, gentle and willing to let trust build at his pace. Once he feels safe, there is an incredibly sweet, playful and loving dog underneath all that uncertainty, and he deserves a family willing to show him that people can be kind.
